20-year-old Panamanian artist Yael Danon unleashed her first single of the year, “Evil Eye”, in June. “YAPIYAPI” followed about one month later.

These two songs reignited my interest in the artist. Yael first impressed me with her 2023 debut album, Diary Girl — She was just 17 years old at the time.

“Evil Eye” and “YAPIYAPI” are electro pop songs infused with Middle Eastern melodies. “YAPIYAPI” is much more vibrant and upbeat.
