“He Ain’t Me” by legendary soul musician Bill Daniels captures a romantic hesitation.

While the man offers reassurances through the refrain, “I ain’t him, he ain’t me”, the woman, hurt by previous relationships, injects further tension in the chorus with her need for reassurances. The track is bass-heavy and funky. I love the energetic groove.

Bill Daniels hails from Mobile, Alabama. He gained prominence as one-half of Mike and Bill duo alongside Mike Felder, with their 1975 disco single “Somebody’s Gotta Go (Sho Ain’t Me)” becoming a hit.

Bill has recently resumed his musical career, releasing songs like “Greedyman” and “It is What It Is”. This new release is his first of 2026.
