Nicki Minaj has finally released her new album Queen. The 19-track record comes at a time when many critics believe that her crown has already been snatched away by equally pop-savvy Cardi B. With collaborations from Foxy Brown, Lil Wayne, Eminem, Ariana Grande, Future, The Weeknd, Labrinth and Swae Lee, the album is a solid project. It is out via Young Money/Cash Money/Republic labels.
Queen, follows up her critically-acclaimed 2014 album The Pinkprint. This LP did so well and cemented her position as the ‘Rap Queen’. Since then, the New York rapper has not seen much success with singles (in fact, her latest collaboration with controversy-seeking rapper 6ix9ine has been criticized as an attempt to return to relevance). Meanwhile, Cardi B has already bagged two No. 1 Hot 100 singles and her debut album broke some records. The question remains, will this album (Queen) earn her back her ‘Rap Queen’ crown? Or, did she even lose it, in the first place?
