EyeAmi grabs listeners’ attention with new single, “Hona”

In the language of the Shona people, an African tribe in Zimbabwe, ‘hona’ means ‘check this out’. Well, that forms the inspiration for EyeAmi‘s new song, “Hona”. EyeAmi is a Toronto, Canada-based, Zimbabwean artist who was born Lewis Tapiwa Manyenya in Harare. The 26-year-old aspires to represent his Zimbabwean heritage in Toronto and this is the first song towards that end. Produced by EreQBeats and mix/mastered by Niko Hook, “Hona” combines elements of Kwaito, Afrohouse and hip-hop, giving it a sweet-flavour.

EyeAmi is gearing towards the release of his Who Are You project and “Hona” is a perfect precursor to that forthcoming record.
