If there’s something good that came out of the global lockdowns, it has to be UK songwriter Garvie‘s decision to become an artist in his own right. Prior to the pandemic, he had been writing for other artists while also playing gigs in the London live scene.
In May, Garvie released his debut single, “Bad Person”. Now, he’s returned with his second, a lovely track called “Villain”. Both songs introduce us to his brand of synth-infused pop rock.
“Villian” was released alongside an immersive video carrying a retro-video-game aesthetic. Similar to that of “Bad Person”, Garvie is portrayed as an animated character in a cinematic universe that he created and designed himself. The artist’s inspiration for this came from the ‘too much time’ he spent playing video games during lockdown.
