John Orpheus is a Trinidadian-born Canada-based multi-hyphenate. He is a musician and author who’s written two children’s books, and is soon to publish his debut novel.
On the music side, the artist is readying an EP titled GET RIGHT! Last weekend, he did share a new single — and, with it, a music video directed by Alex Exists.
The song is called “90’s Fool”. It is a bouncy funk/rap tune with an alluringly soulful chorus. A quirky ode to the 90’s, Orpheus doesn’t consider it a throwback tune though.
“There are no eras. There were no 90s or 2010s,” he explains. “We are people living lives that are much more fluid than that. So I want to make music that’s neither trying to be old school or new school but is a place where all ourselves can hang out: THE WHOLE SCHOOL.”
I find this song quite enjoyable and I bet you will too. Consider checking out John Orpheus on Instagram.
