Music is supposed to bridge cultural barriers, and that’s what Wau Wau Collectif has managed to achieve with their releases.

The project began in 2018 when Swedish musician Karl Jonas Winqvist travelled to Toubab Dialaw, a small Senegalese village. Teaming up with local musicians, including producer Arauna Kane, hetook part in collaborative sessions that continued even after he went back to Europe (thanks to social media).

Two amazing albums materialized out of those sessions: Yaral Sa Doom (2021) and Mariage (2022). Completing the trilogy is an upcoming third album called Teranga.

Wau Wau Collectif have released two singles so far. The title track, “Teranga”, was the first to arrive, with “Oh Africa!” dropping the following month (August 2026).

Released via Sahel Sounds, “Oh Africa!” features a spellbinding mix of percussion, guitar riffs and bass. The vocals are harmony-filled, adding to the track’s dreamy soundscape.
