Before releasing her “figure it out” single a couple of weeks ago, rising Montreal artist dee holt hadn’t released new music for about two years.

The new single provides an explanation to her absence; “figure it out” stems from moments of introspection and is steeped in honesty.

dee shares: “I wrote this song during a time in my life where I was feeling unsure about my path and where I wanted to go. Wondering if I was putting my time and attention into the right things. Questioning everything I was and wasn’t doing. Looking for signs on where to go. Asking to help me figure it out. But the thing is no one is there to truly help you figure it out… that’s on you. And that’s the beauty of it.”

The guitar-driven indie-pop track is another reminder’s of holt’s amazing artistry. And I think her readiness to look within makes her music even more powerful.
